Group Meeting October 2004 Stars in their WI's.

In October 2004 it was Loscoe's turn to host the West Leys Group Meeting.
After many weeks of preparation and rehearsals we took to the stage at
The Senior Citizens Centre on Wilmott Street in Heanor.
We had decided to do our own version of Stars in their Eyes.

We started with the delights of Shirley Bassey singing Hey Big Spender, Janet looked great in along black dress with feather boa. Janet as Shirley Bassey.

Norma sang The Dead Wood Stage, from Calamity Jane and was complete with whip and gun. Norma as Doris Day.

Ann became Gracie Fields and sang Sally. Ann sings Sally
Janet as Carmen Miranda.

Janet took on the role of Carmen Miranda and sang I,Yi,Yi, Yi I like you very much.
Calendar Girls. Take a bow.
To finish Ann, Norma and Janet did the last 3 months of the year
as the Calendar Girls.

It was tremendous fun and the whole evening went down very well.




Cheque presentation December 2001.
Ann Willis presents a cheque, at our December 2001 meeting, for £384 towards The Connor Fellows Charity Trust.
The trust helps fund research at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham into brain tumours in childen.

Time Capsule Burying the Time Capsule.

Back on the 31st December 1999 Loscoe WI buried a Time Capsule in the grounds
of St. Lukes Church. Members chose items to put into the capsule
and also wrote a short piece about themselves. Hopefully in years to come this capsule
will be dug up and a little bit of the history of Loscoe WI will be found.
The photo on the left shows Ann and Joan lowering the capsule into
the prepared hole. As you can see it was a snowy night.
