Ridgeway Craft Centre and Renishaw Hall Gardens
Photos from our trip to the north of the county

It was a bit overcast when we met at Loscoe Post Office to board the bus to The Ridgeway Craft Centre
As we headed north on the motorway the rain started and it looked as though we would be in for a very wet day.
Our luck changed as we neared the craft centre, the sun came out,
and in typical nursery rhyme manner, dried up all the rain. Outside the centre.

We had plenty of time to browse round the various galleries and workshops.
There are a range of craft items for sale from Teddy Bears in The Bear Emporium,
Clocks in It's About Time, Pictures and frames in Picture Parade also wood carvings,
jewellery and hand made Chocolates in Personally Yours.
Pauline ponders the homemade chocolates. Chocolates in Personally Yours.

There is the lovely Cignet Farmhouse Cafe where you can enjoy homemade refreshments,
We had tables reserved for us and all enjoyed a drink and something to eat.

It was then time to return to the coach for the short drive to
Renishaw Hall Gardens.
The sun was shinning although it had rained while we were in the cafe.

We had a lovely time wandering around the gardens at Renishaw,
We had not booked to have a tour around the hall, maybe another time.
The gardens were beautiful with a wide range of plants and lovely views across the lake. The view across the lawn. Admiring the Rhododendrons . Across the lawn towards the Hall. A view of the Hall. Audrey.

The gardens at Renishaw are well worth a visit, with colour throughout the year.
They are beautifully maintained and most areas are accessible with wheelchairs.
We saw lots of rhododendrons in a variety of colours.
Also azaleas and lilacs in all shades from white through to pink and deep purple.
There is a wooded area with ancient and modern sculptures and storytelling corners.
In early spring you will see carpets of snowdrops, then in April there is Bluebell Fortnight.
If you enjoy visiting gardens the ones at Renishaw Hall would be worth several visits over the year. The pond and bridge. It was this big! The fountain. Jean and Pauline take a rest.

A question for one of the gardeners. Handkerchief Tree.

Once you have explored the gardens there is a cafe in the stable yard that serves fresh English
and continental food, locally sourced and cooked to order.
You can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and homemade cakes. The cafe in the old stables. Time for coffee and cake. It was lovely sitting in the sun. Margaret, Ann and Janet.
